I've had an old 27" iMac from 2010 that I haven't turned on in ages, and decided to see how Chrome OS Flex would run on it. It turns out, quite good! Doesn't support Linux though, which is a shame. But for regular Chrome OS stuff, this is a great machine!

UPDATED 8/25/2021: I only found out today that the built-in webcam on this particular Macbook does not work with CloudReady. This is also confimed on the Neverware site. I'll test an external cam to see if that works. I'll probably try something like an old Android phone and will leave the results in this comment. There are several ways that you can reinstall the operating system on your Mac. The best method for you to reinstall macOS depends on your setup. For example, if you own one of the new Macs with Apple Silicon, the reinstallation method is totally different compared to someone with an older, Intel Mac. There are several reasons why you might need to reinstall MacOS. It could be because you used Migration Assistant and now, things are acting "wonky." Whatever the reason, the good news is that this process is really simple. Before proceeding, there are a few things to remember: 1. Backup your data before proceeding 2. Reinstalling MacOS will NOT do anything if your Mac is experiencing hardware failure. 3. All of the reinstallation methods described in this video WILL keep your data safe. In this video, I will be taking you through the steps on how to install Chrome OS Flex on your Mac device. This is a new release of the Chrome OS Operating System which was recently announced by Google, and allows Chrome OS to be installed on Windows or Mac devices. It is similar to the way that CloudReady used to work, with the exception that it is now full Chrome OS, rather than the open-source Chromium OS. This will allow you to breathe some more life into some of your older Mac hardware, and is a great alternative to running old, slow, out-dated and insecure versions of macOS. Simple and very #shorts step-by-step video How to Install Chrome OS Flex! Here’s what you need to do to make this work: Find a flash drive with 8 GB or more and plug it into your PC In google chrome go to the chrome store and download the "Chromebook recovery utility" - 🤍 You will find the link in the description and the first comment launch "Chromebook recovery utility", select Google Chrome OS Flex, select the flash drive. This will start creating a bootable flash drive. Wait for it. After that, turn off the computer. Go to the boot menu and select a bootable flash drive. After that you can install chrome os flex.
